A new group exhibition is opening at The Gordon Smith Gallery and Art for Kids in North Vancouver, BC on September 23, 2023. I’m pleased to share that my work from my 2017 series, “Things have changed, but they haven’t changed,” is included.
The Art of Conversation features artwork by over 20 Canadian artists, exploring the role of art as a platform for communication. The Art of Conversation draws conversational threads between the works in the gallery, highlighting art’s potential to facilitate and provoke dialogue. The perspectives and artistic conversations of elementary and secondary school students will be featured through original writing and art.
As part of this exhibition, I also put together a learning guide for educators this spring, and helped facilitate a mail art ‘call and response’ exchange between two sets of elementary and secondary school students locally. The outcomes of these exchanges—on the theme of ‘roots/routes’—will also be part of the show.
Join me for the opening! I’ll be there with my family, and really appreciating getting to show this work again after the first and only time it was exhibited in Prince George, BC at the Two Rivers Gallery in 2017.
