September 5, 2022 marked the 100th anniversary of the 1922-23 Chinese school strike against racism and segregated schools in Victoria, BC. In commemoration of the centennial anniversary, the Graphic History Collective released the Chinese translation of my 2021-published poster and essay, “Chinese students strike against segregated schools,” about this historic event. The Victoria Chinatown community also gathered for a commemorative walk to retrace the steps of the young protestors who led the strike with event participants wearing t-shirts with my poster illustration. Thank you to the Victoria Chinatown Museum who brought my illustration into the fold of the event.
