In June 2019, I helped to co-author an op-editorial in the Canadian national news outlet Toronto Star to commend the bravery of Hong Kong protesters and to speak up in solidarity. Read the open letter.
Inspired by the protest movement’s inclusive message of “各有各做” (“Do what you can”), I invited members of the Asian diaspora and allies to participate in this photographic project. I paired their portraits with personal handwritten messages in support of the democratic movement in Hong Kong.
As young members of the Asian diaspora in Vancouver, Canada, we want to keep the message of the courageous protestors going strong by showing the world that we care about basic human rights in Hong Kong.
