A typology of a squares of makeup residue were amassed over the course of the Year of the Ox, from January 26, 2009 to February 13, 2010. It is the year I was born into, according to the Chinese Zodiac. A work about the ritualistic and repetitive manner that tending to personal appearances can take on, it is a piece largely about the act of painting as well, and how the gesture always simultaneously involves the act of erasing.
